SOCAL INDO PROUDLY PRESENTS
CHARITY PASAR MALAM
Pasar Malam Is the Indonesian word for Evening Market and needs to find its roots back In the Dutch East Indies, present known as Indonesia. Many Indos (Eurasian/Indo European or Dutch Indo) moved back to The Netherlands In the late 40’s early 50’s and annually created a Pasar Malam In The Hague to create that same feeling and environment from the tropics.
Due to the high number of Indos and the successive success of this event since 1959, dozens of Pasar Malams are held each year in the Netherlands. Recently The Indonesian Embassy in The Hague has started sponsoring the yearly Pasar Malam (Now it’s called Tong Tong Fair) mainly to promote Indonesian business and enhance Dutch-Indo and Indonesian relations. The biggest group of Indos outside The Netherlands live In SoCal, think of The Van Halens and Mark Paul Gosselaar who are Indos and therefore Paguyuban Jawa Plus (Non Profit Organization run by The Javanese Community In The US) and SoCal Indo (A platform trying to unite Indos and Indonesians, support and raise awareness for the Indo Culture and History not only In SoCal but worldwide) is hosting this charity Pasar Malam, an event with lots of Indonesian food, Live Music and DJ and traditional Indonesian Dance which Is held In The Dutch Club Avio In Anaheim.
All proceeds of this charity event go to orphanage and school projects on Java, Indonesia and the elderly Indos In Surabaya, Indonesia.
